Tommoro Robotics is joining the consortium for the AI-based Surgical Robot Innovation Lab project led by Samsung Medical Center.
Supported by Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare, the national research project will provide Samsung Medical Center with approximately KRW 10 billion in government funding over five years. It aims to establish a technology platform spanning development, testing, product development, and commercialization of AI-based surgical robots.
Samsung Medical Center will identify unmet needs in surgery and establish an AI Surgical Robot Innovation Lab to accelerate validation in real clinical environments. The lab is planned as a research and development hub focused on practical validation, supporting prototype performance testing, safety evaluation, and usability assessment throughout the product-development process.
The consortium brings together Samsung Medical Center, Tommoro Robotics, Rainbow Robotics, E-ROP, ROEN Surgical, and other companies and research organizations in robotics and medical devices. Through collaboration across industry, academia, research institutions, and hospitals, the participants will advance embodied AI surgical robotics and assess its potential for product development.
Tommoro Robotics will contribute to precision-manipulation AI and validation systems for medical robotics through its robot foundation models, Vision-Language-Action manipulation intelligence, data-collection and training pipelines, and robot execution and operations platform.
